Lint remover

(with Bodum as an inspiration)

This project was in collaboration with Eggs Design, and the task was to take an existing electronic product, tear it down, document (photos, videos, etc), analyze and understand the detailed design; mechanics, fixtures, electronic components, production method, etc.

Semester: 4 semester at master
Topic: Deconstruct and redesign
Duration: 3,5 weeks
Tools: Miro, Powerpoint, Fusion 360, Keyshot, Adobe Premiere Pro

Then redesign the product with some improvements and if we wanted, some brand recognition. I chose to tear down a lid remover, with Bodum as an inspiration. By having Bodum as my inspiration, I had the opportunity to improve my brand analysis skills, find expressions and forms based on the production method, and prize segment of the product, and create a design that aligned with the Bodum family.

To find the shape and silhouette, I sketched and used the 3D program Fusion 360. When I found my preferred shape I printed it to show and test it on potential users.

The result was a lint remover, made out of Bodums bioplastic, and has recognizable features like the logo, and the dotted pattern around the grip. All the components are removable, which makes it easy for the user to change broken parts.
